Private equity fund manager due diligence and selection – by Helen Steers, Partner, Pantheon
This chapter tackles the subject of private equity fund manager due diligence and is divided into three
parts. First of all, we examine why the manager selection decision is so critical in private equity. We go
on to describe the challenges of conducting due diligence and constructing a well-diversified private
equity portfolio, and discuss a typical due diligence process. Finally, we highlight the changes in this
process over the past five years, since the first edition of this Guide was published, and in the aftermath
of the credit crunch.
